1. Richard Chai + Jason Wu + Vera Wang + Anna Wintour + Teen Vogue Editors = Inspirational and amazing day.

I can’t emphasize how amazing the whole day was. Being able to talk to the editors and being able to ask them questions answered a lot of my questions. They filled me with hope that I can make it if I try. Fashion is amazing, it’s so human.

  2. I think it takes a lot of courage to pursue what you love. What I always say to others I’ve talked to about this is that at the end of the day, you’re at your job for most of your life so you have to love what you do. If you’re a lawyer and you love jewelry, start doing something about it, start designing. You have to demonstrate interest and invest in it. Taking the first step is the hardest. It takes courage just to take that first step. It may help to start saving money so you have a bit of a cushion…It also helps to start small. I have a friend who was an editor and decided she wanted to be a makeup artist; she started by doing makeup for all her editor friends for black-tie’s and benefits. At the end of the day if you want it badly enough, you’ll do it…you have to be hungry for it.

  3. Encouragement

“my first day on the job was a dream come true—a lightbulb went off over my head and I just knew I was meant to work in magazines.” (Eva Chen, Beauty and Health Director of Teen Vogue)

I think the lightbulb went off that one day in January, well not necessarily about working in magazines. :)

  4. First thing NYFW

Shoes (Sunny’s) filmed once I hit the corner of 10th and 22nd. I cross the street pretended to not notice. He asks me to walk so he can film more. I walk. It’s for NYFW in general. I hope it makes it in.

    Arrived at 11:45. Still semi-warm.

Met Rose at 11:50. Getting colder.

Started the postcards at 12:05. Colder still.

12:00 Photographers, media, interviewers (Eva Chen-Teen Vogue, Hilary-telegraph.co.uk, Andrew Bevans-Teen Vogue, etc.) arrived.

More guests started to arrive. Lost track of time.

Saw these 4 super Taiwanese people on the sidewalk. First though: Jason Wu’s parents? And yes, they were and 2 other girls. Jason looks exactly like his mom and his mom was carrying his Miss Wu bag! ( The smaller one I believe) and she just looked so adorable and like a typical Taiwanese high society mother. The fur coat and all. I so wanted to talk chinese to them, but we have nothing in common…

More guests arrive. Hands start freezing. Toes already frozen.

More guests come and I finish my postcards.

    I go talk to Rose.

Some man asks to take my photo. He was from Harper’s Bazaar. My legs looked chubby…He said photos will be up tomorrow. Maybe I’ll make it in?

Anna arrives. The cameras go crazy. Anna just acts like Anna.

    Some more guests.

Nina arrives. Cameras go crazy for the second time. Photographers leave.

    Lights dimmed.

    Show started.

    Doors close.

I leave. The taxi takes my frozen body home.

I can’t believe I didn’t become friends with the guards and have them allow me to stand and watch the show or snuck in or act like I belonged inside. I can’t believe I was so close yet so far, once again. But I should just relax and glad I was there, SO EXCITING!! :) And too many names slip my mind which, yea, kinda sucks.
